The new home design trends for 2022 are here and ready to go. Are you ready to discover this year’s new trends? I sure hope so, because I sure am. What are you hoping for this year and are you a trend follower or are you a “keep it as is” kind of person?
Hello everyone, and welcome back to the blog. We’re diving right into 2022 interior design trends. If you are planning any major renovations or redecorating this year, I hope this post gives you some ideas on how to keep your designs on-trend. Now, I should point out that these are just trends. You are not required to follow trends. However, I like to stay up to date on what’s new in the interior design world and keep you guys informed. So, without further ado, let us begin.
First, the color of the year for New Home Design Trends for 2022
Please begin with a drum roll. The color of the year is sage green. Almost every paint company has announced their color of the year, and almost all of them have chosen a shade of sage green of some kind. My favorite color every year is green, so this is a trend that really isn’t a trend for me. However, not all shades of green are my favorite color, and sage green hasn’t always been my favorite green. So, therefore, I guess you can say that it’s sort of a trend for me. Anyway, enough about me. What do you think you will use this sage green trend for this year? You can use sage green in your home decor in so many ways. Here are just a few ways you can get the color of the year in your home.
- Kitchen cabinets
- Throw pillows
- Throw blankets
- Sage comforter
- A sofa that’s a shade of sage green
Kitchen cabinets

The tranquility of these sage green cabinetry appeals to me. You can accomplish this by purchasing a can of sage paint. Paint the tops of the cabinets sage green or simply the bottoms. and your kitchen will be trendy in 2022 in no time.

To conclude, while sage green is the color of the year, there are other coordinating colors that look great with sage green. As a result, you can combine them to create a very appealing room.
Second, in 2022, rich, dark colors will be popular.
In addition to sage as the color of the year, I believe that dark, moody color palettes will be a big trend in 2022. Rich dark blues, navy, and blacks, as well as some of my favorite colors, such as dark greens, are all the rage right now. Even emerald greens are popular.

With its dark and somber walls and sofa, I can’t get enough of this magnificent study. It’s simply breathtaking. This is a style that I can’t seem to get enough of. Studio Mcgee was responsible for the design.

What do you think of this lovely and moody living room from High Fashion Furniture? The dark green sofa is stunning. It has a lot of styles.

Yay!! All of my favorite things are finally in style! Mid-tone wood floors, neutral colors (taupes, dark navy, sagey green), and architectural details such as picture frame molding! what more can I ask for. I love the dark wall here.

This room contains all of my favorite things! Picture frame molding is one of the architectural details! What about the dark color on the shelving, for example? What more could I want? I adore the dark walls in this room.

This dining room is both trendy and timeless. This space will never go out of style, which is why I am loving what is trending this year. This is the year we bring traditional back. I love it.
Consider green paint, green tiling, green sofas, and a slew of other options. To put it another way, these dark color palettes can’t go wrong. Play with them and have some fun. I adore how traditional style has made a statement in recent years. I transitioned to some dark and moody colors, such as in my kitchen and dining room, which have dark walls. I’m quite transitional, so it’s great to see how I can stay on trend almost all of the time! Additionally, being an interior designer means keeping up with the trends is a must. What’s your excuse? lol.
Here’s another Moody Fantastic image for you to enjoy.

OK, OK, I had to share this dark and moody green bathroom. This is one of my favorite colors, and this bathroom just makes me happy. I also like all of the gold accents and fixtures.
Furniture Trends in 2022
Shapely furniture
I’m always excited to see what happens in the new year in terms of furniture trends in design because furniture is something that is constantly changing. Now, the trendy style of furniture to have is sculptured furniture, which I believe is really trendy. It’s all about accepting the shapes of these pieces of furniture. If you have a room that is quiet and uncluttered, add one of these furniture pieces to the mix and you’ll have generated some lovely drama in your area. Here are some examples of the sculpted furniture in use.

The chair is the focal point of the room. It has a circular form and is a conversation starter.

This adorable tiny sofa has a circular contour that appears to cuddle the body. It appears to be really cool to me.
The New Home Design Trends for 2022 Design Style
So, now that we’ve gone over the parts of the trend, what design style will carry the new home design trends for 2022? There was a moment when we were extremely modern, and then there was a time when we were very boho. However, I would argue that we are currently following a more traditional approach. You’ll find a more classic style making a resurgence in house design. Personally, I believe it’s rather pleasant and warm, a touch sophisticated in design, and I adore it. This traditional design is prevalent in lighting fixtures and even wall art such as oil paintings, portrat paintings, and gold frames.

The traditional design is making a comeback.
Did you hear traditional design is making a comeback this year for 2022? This traditional design is not about minimalism; it is about layering, accumulating, and creating a narrative in your space. I believe that it all contributes to the coziness of a home, but it is not for everyone. Certain individuals may believe it makes their place appear ancient and stuffy. However, if you do it in a modern way and add in some modern touches, it will look like it’s up to date now and on-trend.

Remember how we discussed dark blues and traditional settings? This room incorporates all of the trendy elements of both a traditional and modern space.

The art in this room adds a modern touch to the traditional space. This room has a traditional feel to me because of the molding and artisanal feel. This is a William Sononam room design

Okay, okay. I also included my 3D design with this moody, traditional topic because, as you can see, it contains a lot of those elements. Furthermore, I believe this room is the pinnacle of traditionalism. The oil painting of the woman is what sells it for me. Nothing says traditional like an antique gold-framed oil painting.

Jasmin Reese Interiors’ handsome living room, a traditional living room in Chicago, is all of the above. I adore the four leather chairs that surround a lovely table, and who can overlook the incredible wallpaper on the ceiling? Are you guys excited yet? This trendy, always on-trend room is one of my favorites. So, how about you?
